Richard Jones is the author of the best selling books Walking Haunted London; Haunted Britain and Ireland; Myths and Legends of Britain and Ireland; Haunted Castles of Britain and Ireland; Walking Dickensian London; Haunted Inns of Britain and Ireland and Haunted London.  He has also written guides to Oxford, Cambridge, York, Edinburgh, Chester, Bath, Stratford Dublin, the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula. 2005 will see the publication of his books Haunted Houses of Britain and Ireland and Mystical Britain and Ireland. He has conducted on the spot research at over 2,000 haunted places and is well versed in paranormal history. In October 2003 he was chosen to spearhead the Mayor of London's Totally London "Awe and Gore Week" for which he selected the top 13 haunted sites in the capital. He was subsequently featured on numerous radio programmes discussing the ghosts and history of London.. He is currently working on his new book The London of Jack the Ripper, which will be published in 2006.

Throughout 2004 appeared regularly as one of the historians on Living TV's  hugely successful Most Haunted Live and has investigated first hand locations and subjects as diverse as Dick Turpin, William Shakespeare and Stratford, and Matthew Hopkins the so-called Witch-finder General. On March 30th 2005 he will appear coast to coast in the United States on the Discovery Channel's Conquerors talking about the Norman conquest.

In 1997 he wrote and presented the Ironhill pictures drama-documentary On the Trail of Jack the Ripper since when he has appeared regularly on television throughout the world. He features on the DVD of the Johnny Depp film From Hell providing an opinion on the identity of Jack the Ripper. Richard acted as historical and locations adviser for the History Channel’s Haunted History: London Special, in which programme he also appeared presenting the stories and histories of each site featured. He also appeared on the BBC  television programme Haunted London, for which he braved the dangers inside the most haunted house in London. He also appeared on the History Channel’s special The Hunt For Jack the Ripper,  which was screened in the UK on Boxing Day 2003.

He was interviewed on BBC Breakfast News on Halloween both in 2001 and 2002 about the most haunted places in England. Other Television credits include London Tonight and The History Channel's The XY Factor series, for which he was interviewed for the programmes Sex in the Cold War and Sex in World War Two. In February 2003 he acted as historical advisor and appeared on the History Channel Special Giants: Friend or Foe. This premiered coast to coast in the USA on June 16th 2003 and on UK television on Christmas Day 2003. On October 31st 2003 he was seen on coast to coast Television in the United States telling the story of the ghosts of London's Langham Hotel for the Travel Channel's Haunted Hotels.

Richard is also a full member of the prestigious Magic Circle where   he is an “Associate of the Inner Magic Circle with Silver Star,” the penultimate honour the organisation can bestow upon its members.  He is author of the book That’s Magic. Well versed in the principles of “psychic phenomena” Richard has been entertaining worldwide audiences with his mind reading and séance  show  Hauntings:-An Outing with the Spirits since 1993. In August 2003 he recreated a Victorian séance for the Channel 4 documentary 10 Ways to Talk to The Dead.  He also conducts an annual Halloween Ghost Walk that takes participants into the darker recesses of Haunted London.
